Registering my own domain - Goodbye Gmail (sort of)!

I have a different randomly-generated password for every online account that matters. In the event I couldn't retrieve the password and had to reset it, I would rely pretty much exclusively on my gmail account. Seeing this I was like "wow Google sure has me by the bullocks" and decided this ain't right.

The GPT chats once again gave me the brilliant idea of mapping my email client (which will remain a secret) to a domain I own. I didn't have one so I bought one, which means I had to think of a snazzy domain name. A top-level domain of .uk happens to be $5 a year instead of $10 a year with .com, and while .xyz is only $1 a year I wasn't digging the aesthetic, so now I just had to think of a name to put before .uk. Naturally I went with the first thing that reminded me of the United Kingdom, and I happened to have finished the book Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishigruo who's British(?). When looking up the author's writing style the phrase "controlled prose" came up, and that sounded dope so I went with that.

Now every time I apply for a rewards card at checkout, I can titilate the cashier with my unconventional email address. Also in case you haven't noticed, my blog can be hosted from this domain too!

Only thing I wasn't warned of was it costing money to use a custom domain on most email clients. But sometimes you just gotta live a little.
